Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs trimmed a late 12-point deficit down to one Saturday afternoon, but UVA Wise held on for a 79-76 victory in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. UVA Wise improves to 8-5 overall and 5-4 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 5-6 overall and 4-5 in league play.

- Buckets from Miller and Taylor stretched the Wingate lead back to nine at 30-21
- The Cavs scored the next 14, taking a 35-30 lead on a Max Lidman bucket with two minutes left
- A Pack triple and Erbeck free throw cut the lead to one
- A Cvetkovic triple in the final minute gave the Cavs a 40-34 advantage
- Pack made two free throws with three second left to cut the halftime deficit to four

SECOND HALF

- A Bradley Dean layup three minutes into the second half gave Wise a 47-38 lead
- A layup and three free throws from Hall pulled the 'Dogs to within four
- A Cvetkovic three with 11 minutes remaining gave the Cavaliers a 59-52 advantage
- An Anderson Cummins free throw with 8:10 to go pushed the lead to 11
- Back-to-back Miller free throws cut the lead to seven at 66-59
- A Cvetkovic jumper at the 5:31 mark put UVA Wise on top 71-59
- WU scored the next seven, cutting the lead to five on a Pack triple with 3:14 to go
- Taylor's three-point play pulled Wingate within three at 72-69
- An Evan Ramsey layup gave the Cavs a five-point lead with 1:35 remaining
- Hall answered with a layup, while a steal and a layup from Taylor made it a one-point game with a minute left
