Wise, Va.----The UVA Wise Cavaliers prevailed 82-73 over visiting Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night. The Cavaliers move to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.

- Two Campbell buckets and a Derek Bradley three gave Wingate an early 9-2 lead
- UVA Wise scored the next 15, taking a 17-9 lead on a Kam Roberts bucket at the 14:34 mark
- A Campbell triple and Lingo layup pulled the 'Dogs back within one
- Lingo's triple at the 8:39 mark put the 'Dogs on top 23-22
- Campbell's three-point play stretched the lead to four a minute later
- Yoro Diallo's three gave the Cavs a 28-26 edge with 5:39 remaining
- A Lingo triple and two Miller free throws gave Wingate a 31-28 advantage
- A Kolier Pruett layup capped an 8-0 run that gave the Cavaliers a 38-32 lead
- An Isaiah Vick three with 1:10 to go pulled the Bulldogs back within two
- Pruett's triple at the buzzer gave UVA Wise a 43-38 lead

SECOND HALF

- Diallo's bucket with 14 minutes left capped a 10-0 run that gave UVA Wise a 55-43 lead
- Buckets from Campbell and Godley trimmed the lead to nine with 11 minutes remaining
- Diallo's layup put the Cavs on top 63-51 at the midway point
- Back-to-bac Godley buckets made it a six-point game at the 8:48 mark
- Threes from Godley and Pack pulled WU within four at 67-63 with 6:46 remaining
- A Roberts dunk a minute later pushed the UVA Wise advantage back to eight
- A Roberts dunk with 1:30 remaining made it 76-66
- Lingo's triple with 16 seconds left cut the lead to seven
- Two Cy Hardy free throws two seconds later made the final margin 82-73
