#18 Lenoir-Rhyne uses long ball to claim series opener over Wingate

Hickory, N.C.----The #18 Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears connected on seven homers Friday afternoon, prevailing 9-2 against Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. The Bears improve to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in league play.

- Lenoir-Rhyne out-hit Wingate 8-5
- LR had seven of the nine extra-base hits; all nine were homers
- The Bulldogs left five on base; the Bears stranded three
- LR pitching struck out 10 and walked one; WU had seven strikeouts and five walks

- Alex Khan and Wainwright hit back-to-back homers to make it 7-2
- Cole Laskowski added a solo shot to push the lead to six

- Cole Stanford capped the scoring in the eighth with a solo homer

WRAPUP

- Andrew Harlow got the win, moving to 4-0 on the year
- He allowed two runs on five hits in eight innings, striking out seven
- Kelan Hoover took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in six innings, striking out five
