Conway, S.C.----The inaugural Wingate University beach volleyball season got underway Friday at the Coastal Carolina Tournament in South Carolina. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of matches against College of Charleston and Louisiana Monroe. Wingate will have two more matches Saturday in Conway.

MATCH ONE | COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 5 WINGATE 0

- Wingate's number one pair of Amelia Talbott and Lilou Thieme played the tightest match
- The Cougars were able to prevail 21-17 and 21-15
- Emma Brugh and Alexis Hinson played a close match at number five
- Charleston prevailed 21-14 and 21-17

MATCH TWO | LOUISIANA MONROE 5 WINGATE 0

- Talbott and Thieme were once again the top pair for the 'Dogs
- After falling 21-18 in the first, the duo prevailed 21-19 to force a third game
- The Warhawks were able to claim the match with a 15-8 victory in the third
- Emma Brugh and Alexis Hinson played a tight match at number three
- Louisiana Monroe picked up a 21-18, 21-16 victory in that matchup
