Winston-Salem, N.C.----The Wingate University men's and women's indoor track and field teams lead the pack after the first day of the South Atlantic Conference indoor championship meet at the JDL Fast Track Saturday. The Bulldog men lead Anderson by 20 points, while the WU women have a six-point advantage over Anderson. Thirteen schools are competing in this year's SAC indoor meet.

Wingate men's track highlights

- The Bulldogs had six of the top eight finishers in the 5000 meters
- Titouan Le Grix (14:23.59) and Scott Nutter (14:27.37) were 1-3
- Wingate posted six of the top 10 mile run times in Saturday's prelims
- Ricardo Barbosa (4:16.82) and Luca Poppe (4:20.90) led the way
- Deon Sumpter qualified for the 400 meter finals (50.17)
- Four Bulldogs advanced to the 800 meter championship finals
- Aleix Lago (1:55.29) and Jakob Rettschlag (1:55.59) led the 'Dogs
- Tradon McBride qualified for the 60 meter hurdles final (8.49)
- Shelton Todd qualified for the 200 meter dash final (22.37)
- The Bulldog Distance Medley Relay (DMR) squad finished fourth (10:31.60)
- Team members: Oskar Enseling, Mark Cullen, Tiago de Oliveira and Alejandro Berrio
 
Wingate men's field highlights
 
- Dequan Thompson finished second in the long jump (7.08 meters PR)
- Jamez Jordan took fourth place in the weight throw (16.85 meters)
 
Wingate women's track highlights
 
- Grace Burrell (17:29.70) and Laila Abouzaid (17:35.43) finished 1-2 in the 5000 meters
- Four WU runners scored points in the 5000 meters championship final
- Wingate recorded four of the top 10 mile run times in Saturday's prelims
- Mia Cabrera (5:06.69) and Firdaouss Hriche (5:10.97) led the way
- Two Bulldogs earned a spot in the 400 meter championship final
- Natalie Pinzan (57.81) and Hoyane Esper (58.52) ran the two fastest WU times
- Baia Touza and Evie Brooks made the 800 meter championship final
- Wingate's 800 meter times: Touza (2:19.49) and Brooks (2:20.20)
- Dounia Routbi and Diaman Lee advanced to the 60 meter hurdles final
- Wingate's 60 meter hurdles times: Routbi (8.94) and Lee (8.99)
- The Bulldog Distance Medley Relay (DMR) squad finished fourth (12:33.05)

Wingate women's field highlights
 
- Amber Lawless finished sixth in the weight throw (13.88 meters)
- Ennessey Sorrells finished seventh in the long jump (5.49 meters)
- Elise Opdyke finished eighth in the pole vault (2.87 meters)
 
Wingate women's multi-event highlights
 
- Ally Holmberg is second after five pentathlon events with 3517 points
- She finished first in the shot put (11.77 meters) and the long jump (5.65 meters)
- Holmberg's long jump mark is a new SAC pentathlon meet record
- She finished second in the high jump (1.63 meters)
