‘Dogs open season with victory at Emmanuel

Franklin Springs, Ga.----The Wingate University Bulldogs opened up season two by going 1-1 at Emmanuel, defeating the Lions 228.400-206.490. Coker defeated Wingate and Emmanuel, putting up 241.410 points.

The Bulldogs picked up 33.250 points in the four Compulsory heats, highlighted by a 9.200 in the pyramid. The 'Dogs led all three teams with 22.050 points in the Acro section, with a meet-high 8.2 in heat one, 5.050 in heat two and 8.80 in heat three. The 22.050 points in the Acro section were five more than Coker and Emmanuel.

Wingate put up 21.550 points in the Pyramid section, which was highlighted by an 8.950 in heat three. The 22.750 in the Toss section was highlighted by a 7.700 in heat one. Wingate put up 46 points in the Tumbling section, with a 9.075 in heat five and 9.000 in heat six. The Bulldogs wrapped up the meet with an 82.800 in the team event.

Wingate returns to action Feb. 13, hosting Francis Marion at 6 p.m.
