No. 13 Wingate finishes second in SAC tourney; Beeden takes fifth place individually

Greenville, S.C.----The No. 13 Wingate University men's golf team finished second in the South Atlantic Conference Championships at 22-over-par 886 after a round three score of nine-over-par 297 on the Preserve at Verdae layout. Champions Lincoln Memorial claimed its second title in a row at a phenomenal score of 20-under-par 844 for the week.
 
Wingate junior Lewis Beeden recorded the best finish of his Bulldog career, concluding the three-day, three-round event with a three-over-par 75 for a one-under-par 215 total and a fifth- place finish on the individual leader board. Beeden and graduate student Jordan Hyland (tied for seventh place, one-over-par 217) were named to the all-tournament first and second team, respectively.

On the horizon for No. 13 Wingate men's golf
 
After a very successful spring semester, the Bulldogs are guaranteed a spot at this year's South Southeast NCAA Regional Championship, which is the next stop in the 2025 post season. The three-day, three-round event takes place May 8-10 at Mission Resort and Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
 
The event is hosted by Sunshine State Conference member Rollins College. The top seven teams after 54 holes of stroke play will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II national championships the following week. The Bulldogs will utilize the next three weeks to rest, recuperate and prepare for another long run in the NCAA post season, similar to their march to the 2024 national quarterfinals.
