Matthews, N.C.----Due to the threat of inclement weather Saturday evening in the Matthews area, the South Atlantic Conference has moved the start times of both SAC lacrosse championship games on Saturday, May 3 at the Matthews SportsPlex. The #15 Wingate women will now face Limestone at 11 a.m. in the women's championship game, while the #10 Bulldog men take on #7 Anderson at 2 p.m. in the men's championship game. The contests were originally scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Matthews.

The Wingate women are playing in the SAC title game for the fourth straight year, looking for the second tournament title in program history. The Bulldogs have won each of the last three regular season titles, going 11-0 in league play this season. The 'Dogs are riding a 14-game winning streak, including an 18-14 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in Wednesday's SAC Tournament semifinal contest at Irwin Belk Stadium. The Bulldogs and Saints are meeting in the SAC title game for the second straight season. Wingate and Limestone played April 19, with the Bulldogs prevailing 16-13 on the road to clinch the regular season SAC title.
The Bulldog men are in the SAC title game for the first time since the 2021 season. Wingate is looking for its first SAC Tourney title since 2019, when the 'Dogs won their third straight SAC Tournament championship. The Bulldogs won the regular season SAC title in 2023, going a perfect 9-0 in league play. The 'Dogs have had a thrilling ride to the SAC title game, winning 12-11 in double overtime at #13 Newberry in the quarterfinals, then overcoming a 7-1 deficit in a 17-16 overtime victory at #2 Limestone Wednesday night. Wingate and Anderson met April 12, with the Trojans edging the Bulldogs 15-13.
