Wingate hosts Bulldog Stampede at WU XC Facility Saturday

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University men's and women's cross country teams will host the 12th annual Bulldog Stampede at the WU Cross Country Facility Saturday. The women's 6K race will commence at 8 a.m., with the men's 7K race immediately following at 8:45 a.m.
 
Fifteen schools are slated to send teams to the event. The 10 schools from Wingate's region will use the Bulldog Stampede as a preview for the 2025 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional championships, slated for Saturday, Nov. 8 on the Bulldogs' home course.

Wingate Notes
The Wingate University men's cross country team is No. 1 in the first NCAA Division II U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) coaches' poll released Wednesday. The Wingate women's XC team is No. 5. The Bulldog squads occupy the No. 1 spot in the Southeast Region rankings for both women and men.
 
The Bulldogs are the defending SAC and Southeast Region champions in both men's and women's cross country. The Wingate men finished second at the '24 national championship meet after winning the NCAA title in '23. The Bulldog women claimed eighth place at NCAAs last season.
