No. 9 Wingate is tied for second after 36 holes of the Hurricane Invite Monday

Albany, Ga.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team is tied for second place after two rounds of the Hurricane Invitational Monday. The Bulldogs shot an even-par 288 in the morning round and a three-over-par 291 in the evening session for a total score of 579. Georgia Southwestern University is hosting this event at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany.
 
Wingate is tied with Columbus State and USC Beaufort for second place entering Tuesday's final round. Florida Southern is the 36-hole leader with an even-par 576, three shots better than the aforementioned trio. The FSC Mocs shot a one-over-par 289 in the first round and a one-under-par 287 in the second round.
 
Individually, Bulldog senior All-American Lewis Beeden is tied for fifth place at two-under-par 142. Beeden had a two-under-par 70 in the first round with an even-par 72 in the second stanza. The 36-hole leader is Carson-Newman's Aidan Collier, who sits alone in first place at five-under-par 139.
 
Up next for the No. 9 Wingate Bulldogs
 
The 15 teams and 81 student-athletes in the Hurricane Invitational will return to action Tuesday for the third and final round on the Doublegate Country Club layout. The third round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
