No. 9 Wingate finishes fifth in Hurricane Invitational Tuesday

Albany, Ga.----The No. 9 Wingate University men's golf team finished fifth in the Hurricane Invitational Tuesday. The Bulldogs shot a 295 Tuesday to complete three rounds at 10-over-par 874. Georgia Southwestern University hosted this event at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany.
 
Storer leads Bulldogs with three-under-par 69 Tuesday
 
Senior Alfie Storer posted a three-under-par 69 Tuesday, completing 54 holes at one-over-par 217 to finish tied for 12th place. Storer was the model of consistency, posting 15 pars and three birdies in the third round
 
Wingate had two golfers in the top 25, as sophomore Brandon Skidmore tied for 16th place at three-over-par 219. He had a 76 Tuesday after rounds of 71 and 72 Monday. Tampa's Mohit Balaji was the individual winner at five-under-par 211.
 
Wingate earns top SAC school honors in Hurricane Invite
 
Four South Atlantic Conference schools competed in the Hurricane Invitational. Wingate was the top dog, defeating No. 12 Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman and Anderson. No. 7 Florida Southern won the team title with a six-under-par 588. The FSC Mocs were the only team in the star-studded field to finish under par.
 
Up next for the No. 9 Wingate Bulldogs
 
After two tournaments in two weeks, Wingate will take a two-week break before its next event. The Bulldogs will make their third trip to Georgia this season October 6-7, traveling to Toccoa to compete in the Currahee Collegiate Invite. SAC foe Anderson hosts this event at the Currahee Golf Club.
