Coral Springs, Fla.----The Wingate University women's golf team is the No. 3 squad in the preseason coaches' poll presented by Mizuno and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Bulldogs were the No. 2 team in the final poll of the 2024-25 season, posted on May 2, 2025.
Looking back at the 2024-25 season
Newcomer
Amely Bochaton had a historic season for the Wingate Bulldogs, earning both the 2025 Division II PING Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. She was also named a first team WGCA All-American.
In addition to her national accolades, Bochaton swept top honors in the South Atlantic Conference. She was named SAC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while earning first team All-SAC recognition. Bochaton captured the individual title at the SAC Championships April 6-8, leading Wingate to the team crown.
Ranked No. 1 in the national Division II individual rankings for the duration of the season, Bochaton set a new SAC and Wingate standard with an impressive 70.8 stroke average. A native of Evian Les Bains, France, she competed in 14-of-14 events for the second-ranked Bulldogs, finishing in the top 20 in every tournament, with an astounding 13 top-10 finishes and six individual titles, along with two runner-up showings.
In addition to the SAC tournament championship, Bochaton and her teammates won a thrilling NCAA regional tournament playoff to take the fourth and final national championship qualifying spot. Making their first-ever team appearance at the NCAA national championships, the Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals of this year's event.
Next on the agenda for Wingate University women's golf
Wingate opens the 2025-26 campaign this week, competing in the South Region Preview in Cleveland, Tennessee Monday and Tuesday. As mandated by the NCAA, the 'Dogs will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday during each of their 10 regular season tourneys.
The Bulldogs play five events during the fall semester and an identical five tournaments in the spring. The regular season highlight is the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, 2026. Wingate starts the '26 postseason on Sunday, April 12, joining 11 league rivals for the three-day, 54-hole South Atlantic Conference tournament in Greenville, South Carolina.
Women's Golf Coaches Association
Founded in 1983, the Women's Golf Coaches Association is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 750 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
