‘Dogs close out 2025 with 85-73 victory at Francis Marion

Florence, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs led by as many as 26 Wednesday afternoon en route to an 85-73 victory at Francis Marion in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 7-4 overall, while the Patriots fall to 2-9 on the season.

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 48 percent from the field, going eight-for-24 from three-point range (33 percent)
- FMU shot 38 percent from the field, connecting on six-of-29 from deep (21 percent)
- The 'Dogs held a 40-34 rebounding advantage; the Patriots had a 13-10 edge in second-chance points
- Wingate scored 16 points off 16 Francis Marion turnovers
- The Bulldogs went 17-for-19 at the free throw line; FMU was 21-for-30

FIRST HALF

- A jumper and three from Miller, along with a Pack jumper gave WU an 11-6 lead five minutes in
- Clyde Mauldin's layup at the 13:21 mark cut the lead to three
- A Vick triple and two Miller free throws put the 'Dogs on top 18-10
- Cole Deptula's jumper cut the lead back to four
- Godley scored the next six points, giving Wingate a 10-point cushion with 8:11 to go
- Duncan Alevok's bucket at the 5:41 mark cut the lead back to six
- Godley and Pack answered with back-to-back triples to make it 32-20
- Two Adonis Cole free throws with a minute left pulled FMU back within 10
- Vick's jumper with 48 seconds left gave the 'Dogs a 12-point lead
- A Jacori Owens tipin at the buzzer made it 38-24 at halftime

SECOND HALF

- A layup and two free throws from Campbell gave Wingate a 42-24 edge in the opening minute
- Two Deptula free throws at the 16:20 mark cut the lead to 14
- Two Darius Carr free throws and a Quinn triple gave Wingate a 20-point lead with 12 minutes left
- Back-to-back Godley threes made it 62-39 at the midway point
- Quinn buried another triple with nine minutes left to put the 'Dogs on top 65-39
