Beale leads Bulldogs to 69-68 victory over Trojans

Wingate, N.C.----Laney Beale was an assist away from a triple-double Wednesday evening, leading the Wingate University Bulldogs to a 69-68 victory over Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate improves to 13-6 overall and 8-5 in the SAC, while the Trojans fall to 8-11 overall and 4-9 in league play.

- Ashlyn Sheridan's triple in the final seconds gave Anderson a 19-15 lead

SECOND QUARTER

- A Harris triple in the opening minute pushed the lead to five
- Isaac buried a three to make it 22-20 at the 7:56 mark
- A Harris layup capped a 7-0 run to give AU a 29-20 lead with 6:34 to go
- A Shorma layup and two Harris free throws cut the lead to five at the midway point
- Brooks knocked down a three at the 2:41 mark to put the Trojans on top 35-24
- Harris answered with a three for the 'Dogs to cut the lead to eight
- Two Brooks free throws in the final seconds gave AU a 39-29 halftime lead

THIRD QUARTER

- An Ashley Hill triple two minutes into the half gave the Trojans a 46-31 advantage
- Back-to-back Shorma buckets pulled the Bulldogs back within 11
- Harris buried a three for Anderson to make it 49-35 at the midway point
- Beale's three cut it to 11, but Sheridan's triple with two minutes to go pushed it back to 14
- A Shorma three and Bacon layup trimmed the deficit to nine at 55-46
- Two Kyla Cain free throws with 54 seconds left gave AU an 11-point cushion
- Isaac and Shorma buried threes in the final 35 seconds, making it 57-52

FOURTH QUARTER

- Montiel's jumper on the opening possession made it a three-point game
