INFO | John Thomas Terrier Classic complete results
Â
Boston, Mass.----The Wingate University indoor track and field teams and the United States Postal Service have one unofficial motto in common: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." Even with the snowy conditions in the Old North State, the Bulldogs competed in four meets this weekend. Most notable for the defending South Atlantic Conference men's and women's champions was the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University at the Track and Tennis Center Friday and Saturday.
Â
What They Are Saying
Wingate director of cross country and track and fieldÂ
Matt van Lierop
Â
"The Wingate Bulldogs are throwing it down all over the town(s). Even with the JDL competition cancelation for Sunday, these 'Dogs are in four places at once. Distance runners at Boston U. and Harvard, sprints and jumps at Tryon and pentathletes at Roanoke. The coordination of it all is daunting, but the results are beyond worth it."
Â
"We were able to experience a brand-new facility with Tryon, achieving multiple personal bests. Up in the icy tundra of the northeast, the distance runners are continuing to punch tickets to the big show. Finally, the pentathlete duo of
Ally Holmberg and
Candace Taylor notched some much-needed experience to prep themselves for the SAC indoor championships and beyond."
Â
"We've been stutter-stepping through the first few weeks of the season, navigating the wintery weather, but the Bulldogs of WU will be ready when it's time for them to shine…"
