Wingate’s Walker receives SAC Athlete of the Week laurels

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University junior student-athlete Micah Walker (Hamilton, N.J.) is this week's South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, league officials announce from corporate headquarters. Walker receives this recognition for the first time in his WU career.

In only his second Wingate indoor track and field meet, Walker set a new school standard in the weight throw at the JDL Fast Track Camel City Sprints meet Friday, February 6 in Winston-Salem. His mark of 17.80 meters is the second-best throw in the SAC this season. Walker joined the Bulldog family this season as a transfer from Holy Family University.

What They Are Saying
Wingate throws coach Danielle Crawford

"Micah Walker has been a great addition to the team. He has brought a new prospective on throwing and a great personality to add to our family of throwers at Wingate. Micah shows up every day to work on something new. He works diligently to refine his technique and helps his teammates achieve their goals as well. I can't wait to see what else he is going to accomplish at Wingate."
