Chad Harvey earns SAC Pitcher of the Week accolades

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University junior right-hander Chad Harvey has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Harvey earns Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second time this season.

Harvey led the Bulldogs to an impressive 14-0 victory at #5 Lenoir-Rhyne Friday in the SAC opener as Wingate handed the Bears their first loss of the year and just their third home loss in the last two seasons.

Harvey was dominant, going all seven innings in the mercy-rule victory without allowing a run, giving up just four singles. He struck out six and walked one, shutting the Bears out for the first time in 170 games. LR had scored 43 runs through three games this year. Harvey set down six in a row twice during his seven-inning performance. Lenoir-Rhyne got a walk and hit batter to start the seventh, giving the Bears multiple base runners in an inning for the first time, but Harvey got a strikeout, flyout and strikeout to end the game.

Harvey is 3-0 on the season with a 1.06 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 17 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .206 off the 2025 All-American, with only two extra-base hits through 17 innings.

The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday, hosting Findlay at noon. Wingate travels to Coker for a three-game SAC series this weekend, starting Friday at 6 p.m.
