No. 14 Wingate wins SAC indoor crown; Holmberg and Lawless reap individual honors

Winston-Salem, N.C.----The NCAA No. 14 Wingate University women's track and field team won its fourth straight South Atlantic Conference indoor championship meet at the JDL Fast Track Sunday. The Bulldogs scored 161 points, compared to 92 markers for second-place Tusculum.
 
Wingate junior Ally Holmberg earned SAC indoor track Field Athlete of the Year honors. She set a new SAC meet and WU school record with her 3724 points in her pentathlon victory. Holmberg won the pentathlon long jump with a new school standard of 6.04 meters. She was also triumphant in the individual long jump, thanks to her leap of 5.80 meters.
 
Bulldog senior Amber Lawless received the SAC Elite 23 Award, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championship event. The elementary education major has a sterling 4.00 GPA. Inside the JDL Fast Track Sunday, Lawless won the shot put with a new SAC meet and WU school record mark of 15.01 meters.

- Evie Brooks won the mile run with her time of 4:59.07
- Assiya El Hafyan won the high jump with her mark of 1.69 meters
- El Hafyan wins the indoor HJ event for the second consecutive season
- Amber Lawless won the shot put with her mark of 15.01 meters
- With her Sunday effort, Lawless sets a new meet and school shot put record
- Lawless wins the indoor shot put competition for the second straight year
- Ally Holmberg won two Saturday events, the long jump and the pentathlon
- Holmberg's Saturday marks: long jump (5.80 meters) and pentathlon (3724 points)
- Holmberg's score of 3724 points is a new school standard for most points

- Imane Jourji finished second in the 3000 meters (9:51.27)
- Abigail Bester (9:54.00) and Evie Brooks (9:57.30) took fourth and fifth, respectively
- Hayat Abdeselam finished second in the triple jump (11.85 meters)
- Valerie Daehler finished second in the high jump (1.61 meters)
- Wingate runners finished 3-4-5 in the mile run Sunday
- Times: Sira Bo (5:02.41), Firdaouss Hriche (5:03.97) and Riya Keshaw (5:04.76)
- Natalie Pinzan finished third in the 400 meter championship final (56.26)
- Pinzan's time of 56.26 is a new WU school standard for the event
- Dounia Routbi finished third in the 60-meter hurdles final (8.73)
- Routbi's time of 8.73 is a new WU school record for the event
- Holmberg finished fourth in the shot put (11.64 meters)
- Wingate's 4x400 meter relay squad finished third with its time of 3:50.96
- The 'Dogs posted a new school-record time in the 4x400 meter relay Sunday
- Team members: Routbi, Corinne Cotton, Hoyane Esper and Pinzan

- Mohamed Dahmouch won the mile run with his time of 4:12.30
- Klaus Scholz won the 800 meters with his time of 1:49.71
- Scholz set a new meet record with his prelims time of 1:49.26 Saturday
- Joaquin Campos won the 3000 meters with his time of 8:09.53
- Javier Maxwell won the high jump with his leap of 2.02 meters
- Lars Laros won the 5000 meters Saturday with his meet record time of 13:57.00

- Mateo de Castro Navarro finished second in the shot put (15.88 meters)
- Dequan Thompson finished third in the triple jump (14.89 meters)
- Bryce Anthony finished third in the heptathlon 1000 meters (3:04.05)
- Defending 800 meter champ Aleix Lago finished fourth (1:51.80)
- Malachi Cranshaw finished fourth in the high jump (1.94 meters, PR)
- Niels Peeters (4:14.64) and Matthew Brunnock (4:14.73) finished 4-5 in the mile
- WU student-athletes finished 4-5-7 in the 60-meter hurdles final
- Jacoby Craig (8.23, PR) and Tradon McBride (8.24, PR) were fourth and fifth
- Wingate's 4x400 meter relay squad finished fourth with its time of 3:16.48
- The 'Dogs posted a new school-record time in the 4x400 meter relay Sunday
- Team members: Dylan Saunders, Camden Kilgore, Mark Cullen and Avery Bennett
