No. 5 Wingate, Storer lead Hargett Memorial; Weather delays allow only 27 holes Monday

Monroe, N.C.----After one official round, the No. 5 Wingate University men's golf team leads the 26th annual Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament at Rolling Hills Country Club Monday. Bulldog senior and NCAA No. 18 Alfie Storer shot a career-low round of seven-under-par 65 to share the 18-hole lead with Emmanuel (Ga.) freshman Gabriel Hull.
 
Wingate's first-round score of 13-under-par 275 is three strokes better than Emmanuel's 10-under-par 278. The Wingate B team and Erskine are the only other teams under par following the first round. The Bulldogs had a seven-under-par 281, while the Flying Fleet shot a six-under-par 282 for the first 18 holes.
 
The 17 teams and 96 student-athletes played only 27 holes Monday. The participants endured a one-hour weather delay in the morning and a 45-minute pause in the late afternoon. Round two resumes at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The third round will follow.

- Freshman Garrison Welborn had a season-low 71

The 26th annual Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament concludes Tuesday. The 17 teams and 96 student-athletes will resume the second round at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The third round will follow.
