#4 Wingate claims regular season SAC title with 21-6 Senior Day victory

Wingate, N.C.----The fourth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs clinched the outright regular season conference title Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 21-6 victory over Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium and Founders Field. The Bulldogs improve to 11-2 overall and 8-0 in the SAC, while the Railsplitters fall to 7-7 overall and 2-6 in league play.

- Goss started the scoring 28 seconds in off a Butrico assist
- Grant scored a minute later
- Butrico scored off Moran's assist at the 10:29 mark
- Butrico's goal at the buzzer off a Spence assist put the 'Dogs on top 4-1

SECOND PERIOD

- Spence scored 37 seconds into the second period
- Benzing's goal off a Butrico assist with five minutes left made it 6-1
- Grant scored with 2:15 to go, giving the Bulldogs a 7-2 halftime advantage

THIRD PERIOD

- Gavin Reid's goal 93 seconds into the second half cut the lead to four
- Butrico answered with a goal with 12 minutes left
- Goss scored off Butrico's assist two minutes later to push the lead to six
- Clark scored off a Spence assist at the 8:54 mark to make it 10-3
- Reid scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead back to five
- Butrico answered with a goal a minute later
- Goss scored off Clark's assist with seven seconds left to put the Dogs on top 12-5

FOURTH PERIOD

- Wingate outscored LMU 9-1 in the final frame
- Butrico scored off Spence's assist 33 seconds in
- Spence set up Clark's goal 32 seconds later
- Spence's goal at the 11:30 mark made it 15-5
- Spence assisted on goals from Goss and Clark to stretch the lead to 12
- Nerone scored with 6:33 to go, making it 18-5
- Cox scored off Murray's assist with just under five minutes left
- Bitzer scored 25 seconds later to give Wingate its 20th goal
- Dromsky scored the final goal off the day off Cifreo's assist with three seconds left
