Cleveland, Tenn.----Competing shorthanded with a four-player lineup, the Wingate University women's golf squad put together a gritty effort through the opening two rounds of the City with Spirit Fall Classic, hosted by Lee University at the Cleveland Country Club.

The team carded a 54-over-par total through the first 36 holes of the tournament, positioning themselves 11th overall on the leaderboard as they head into the final stretch.

Individual Highlights

Freshman Gabrielle Duhalde had a solid start in her first WU tournament with scores of 74 and 75 for a five-over-par 149. She is tied for 17th place on the individual leader board with her 149 total. Duhalde led the Bulldogs with four birdies Monday.

Sophomore Ines Marty started her Monday with two birdies to card a three-over-par 75 opening round. She is tied for 24th place at eight-over-par after a second-round 77. Freshman Juana Milano bounced back strongly in her second rotation, catching a rhythm with two birdies to card a one-over-par, second-round 73. She is tied for 44th place at 157.

Playing a player short places an immediate premium on every scorecard. The team continues to show great resilience and competitive fight against a deep field at Cleveland Country Club.

Up next for the Bulldogs

Wingate concludes the City with Spirit Fall Classic Tuesday with the third and final round. The Bulldogs are paired with SAC rival Carson-Newman and frequent opponent USC Beaufort. Wingate women's golf alumna Sam Fritzinger ('21) is the USCB assistant golf coach.
