Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Sports Information staff has compiled All-Decade teams for each of the 17 sports at the University. Over the course of the next three weeks, a new team will be released periodically. Today, we recognize the standouts for the men’s basketball team from the 2000 through the 2009 seasons. On Wednesday afternoon, the women’s basketball All-Decade team will be released.
Guards
Lorinza “Junior” Harrington (Wagram, N.C.) - First team All-South Atlantic Conference selection in 2001-02...Awarded the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in senior season...First team All-Region...Named first team All-American by Basketball Times Magazine in 2001...Named third team All-American by the Division II Bulletin magazine following senior year....Averaged 14.8 points per game and 6.4 assists per game in 2001-02...Finished second all-time in the history of the SAC with 584 assists...Holds the single season record for assists with 204 during 2001-02 season...Also holds the fourth best mark in same category with 193 in 2000-01...Registered a career-high 13 assists twice in career, once against North Carolina Central in 2001 and the other against Newberry in the same year...Career assist average is 4.83, which ranks third all-time in the SAC...Finished second all-time in the conference with 263 steals...105 steals in 2001-02 are the second most in a single season in SAC history...Posted a career-high eight steals against Lenoir-Rhyne in 2002, which is the second most all-time for a single game...Career steal average is 2.17, which ranks fourth all-time...Played in 82 games during the 2002-03 season for the Denver Nuggets of the NBA...Only member of the team to play in every game during the season...Averaged 5.1 points per game with Nuggets....Played for the New Orleans Hornets in 2004-05, averaging 5.6 points per game and 2.1 assists per game...Scored career-high 22 points against Charlotte Bobcats...Played 29 games for Memphis Grizzlies in 2006-07....Finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, playing all 48 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers in an overtime win...
Djuan Hankins (Roanoke, Va.) - Three-time first team All-South Atlantic Conference...Daktronics All-South Atlantic Region...Second all-time in SAC with 232 three-point feld goals made...Averaged 19.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals during senior season...During same season, shot 43.8 percent from the field, 40.3 percent from three-point land and 72.1 percent from foul line... At the time, became the fourth men’s player in SAC history to tally 1,500 points, 300 assists, 300 rebounds and 100 steals during his collegiate career...Led the Bulldogs to a three-way tie for first place in the South Atlantic Conference regular season in 2002-03...Career-high 33 points against Fayetteville State in 2002...
Keenan Dunn (Charlotte, N.C.) - First team All-SAC in 2003-04 season...Named Freshman of the Year in 2000-01 season...Second team All-Region during senior season...Led the South Atlantic Conference in scoring for the majority of senior season, finishing year with 18.6 points per game...Led the league in three-point field goals made per game with 3.04 triples per game during senior year...Completed his Wingate career with 1,668 points...Averaged double-figures every year for Bulldogs...Led Wingate to two SAC regular season titles and two NCAA Division II tournament berths...Made 85 three-pointers in 2003-04, which is sixth most all time during a season in SAC history...Scored a career-high 31 points against Queens (N.C.) in 2003...

University and Truman State (Mo.) University have produced more Academic All-America® honorees during this time period. Wingate’s 43 Academic All-America® honorees (lifetime) is tops among all SAC schools.
