Wingate University Athletics

Wingate junior Katie Pheil (Ocala, Fla.) won twice for the Bulldog women’s swimming team Saturday. Pheil collected gold medals in the 200 Freestyle and the 200 Backstroke in Wingate’s home meet against NCAA Division I UNC Wilmington. The Seahawks prevailed over the Bulldogs 167-113.
 
Pheil earned her two triumphs in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.90) and the 200 Backstroke (2:06.45). Pheil swam the first leg on Wingate’s second-place 400 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay quartets. The Bulldogs won five individual events and the women’s one-meter diving competition Sunday.
