Wingate senior Marko Blazevski (Skopje, Macedonia) helped the Bulldogs finish third in the second annual All-North Carolina Invitational Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Wingate men had 872 points; only N.C. State and East Carolina scored more points. Blazevski posted four top-five individual finishes during the two-day event.
On Saturday, the two-time Capital One Academic All-America® won the 200 Butterfly (1:52.01), while claiming a third-place finish in the 400 Individual Medley (4:01.96). Blazevski was the top NCAA Division II finisher in his signature 400 IM event. Blazevski took fifth-place in the 200 Backstroke (1:53.35) Saturday. He swam the anchor leg on Wingate’s eighth-place 400 Freestyle Relay team (3:10.05) on day two.
On Friday, the 2012 London Olympian earned second place in the men’s 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:36.32. He won the men’s 500 Free at the inaugural All-North Carolina Invite last year with a meet-record time of 4:34.77. Blazevski was voted Wingate University’s J. Howard Williams Award winner for male athlete of the year in 2012.
