Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women’s tennis team defeated the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University 8-1 in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the SAC. Lenoir-Rhyne falls to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Bulldogs went 3-0 in doubles action, winning by scores of 8-4 and 8-1, while winning by default in the final match.
Wingate won four of the five singles matches played on the afternoon. All four of those victories came in straight sets.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, hosting Florida Southern at 11 a.m. Lenoir-Rhyne hosts USC Lancaster Friday at 3 p.m.
