Hartsville, S.C.----The Wingate University women’s tennis team lost only 11 games in the number two through six singles matches Saturday, grabbing a 7-2 victory over Coker College at the Coker Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs are the number 32 team in the Campbell/ITA NCAA Division II national rankings.
Wingate has won 15 matches in a row. The Bulldogs are 17-1 overall. The Coker Cobras fall to 11-6 overall. Wingate visits South Atlantic Conference foe Anderson (S.C.) University Monday at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs return home on Friday, hosting NAIA Division I powerhouse SCAD Atlanta at 1 p.m.
The freshman trio of
Ali Evers (Roswell, Ga.),
Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and
Olivia Poole (Boca Raton, Fla.) won two matches each Saturday. Winston and Poole combined to earn an 8-0 doubles victory. The Winston-Poole duo lost only one game each in singles play.
