Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University defeated Tusculum College 5-0 in a Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men’s Tennis Championship semifinal match Friday afternoon at the Rock Hill Tennis Club.
 
The top-seeded Bulldogs (17-6 overall) will face Lincoln Memorial in the championship match Saturday at 12 noon.  The Pioneers’ season ends with a final record of 12-10 overall.
 
Wingate jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles as Flavio Rathsam and Neal Towlson defeated Lukas Winkelmann and Luis Zamora 8-5 at flight one, while Drew Owen and Matt Lichtenstein posted an 8-2 win at flight two over Paul Wiederspahn and Steven Lin. Diego Martinez and Ryan Forbes completed the doubles clean sweep with an 8-4 triumph over Drew Kiser and John Taylor at flight three.
 
In singles, Martinez swept Wiederspahn 6-0, 6-0 at flight four and Owen downed Tony Bujana 6-1, 6-0 at flight two to clinch the match for the Bulldogs. Wingate’s Lichtenstein and Towlson were leading at flights three and five, respectively, when the match ended. TC’s Winkelmann led Rathsam 6-2, 2-1 at flight one, while flight six had not started.
