Wingate, N.C.----The Catawba College Indians jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning Tuesday night en route to an 11-3 victory over the Bulldogs of Wingate University in NCAA Division II Southeast Region baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. The 14th-ranked Indians improve to 18-5 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 14-12 on the season.

Chris Dula had two RBI each for the Indians.
Julio Zubillaga added a double, RBI and run scored, while
Ethan Satterfield also had an RBI a run scored for the Indians.
Keaton Hawks went two-for-five for Catawba, scoring three runs.

Jason Hunter (West Chester, Pa.) was two-for-four with a double and an RBI to lead the Wingate attack. Sophomore outfielder
Thomas Spitz (West Chester, Pa.) added a double, RBI and run scored, while freshman outfielder
Bill Krebs (West Chester, Pa.) had a double and a run scored.
Catawba took an early lead with a run in the first. Hawks led off the game with a single, went to second on a groundout, stole third, then scored on an RBI groundout from Dula. The Indians added four more runs in the second. Parisi drove home the first two runs with a two-run double, while a two-run single from Richardson made it 5-0.
Senior designated hitter
Grant McCoury (Canton, Ohio) led off the bottom of the second with a walk, then went to second on a single from sophomore infielder
Blake Prince (Winter Park, Fla.). He would score Wingate’s first run on an RBI single from Hunter.
The Bulldogs scored two more in the third to cut the lead to two. Krebs led off the inning with a double, then scored on an RBI double from Spitz. A passed ball would plate Spitz, making it 5-3.
An RBI single from Satterfield in the fourth, along with a Wingate error pushed the Catawba lead back to four. Zubillaga’s RBI single in the seventh made it 8-3.
The Indians added three more runs in the eighth. Dula got it started with an RBI single, while Furr’s two-run single made the final margin 11-3.
Cameron Cockman got the win for Catawba, improving to 3-2. He allowed two earned runs on six hits in six innings of work, striking out five. Freshman right-hander
CJ Harris (Clover, S.C.) took the loss, falling to 1-4. He allowed six earned runs on nine hits in four innings of work, striking out four.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday, traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne for another nonconference regional contest. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
