Salisbury, N.C.----The 34th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs cruised past Catawba College Thursday afternoon, staying undefeated in SAC play with a 9-0 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action. The Bulldogs improve to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in the SAC, while Catawba falls to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Wingate has now won 21 of its last 22 league matches.

Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) for an 8-5 win at number one doubles. Senior

Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) won 8-5 at number two doubles, while sophomore
Tiffany Williams (Cary, N.C.) and senior
Helen Goreski (Oakville, Ontario) registered an 8-5 win at number three doubles to put the ‘Dogs up 3-0 heading to singles play.
Evers rallied for a victory at number one singles, dropping the first set 3-6 while winning 6-3 in the second to force a tie-breaker, which she won 10-4. Thomas added a 7-6, 6-1 win at number two doubles for the Bulldogs, while Winston cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at number three singles. Williams notched a 6-2, 6-2 victory in number four doubles. Ferguson won 6-2, 6-3 at number five doubles, while a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) win from Goreski at number six singles capped the sweep for the Bulldogs.
Wingate returns to action Saturday, traveling to Lincoln Memorial for an 11 a.m. start.
