Hickory, N.C.---The Wingate University Bulldogs rallied for a 4-3 victory in game one of a South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday afternoon, while Lenoir-Rhyne University collected a 4-1 victory in game two. The Bulldogs move to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the SAC. The Bears move to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
Game One: Wingate 4, Lenoir-Rhyne 3

Brad Cherry (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) went three-for-four with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Sophomore outfielder
Bill Krebs (West Chester, Pa.) was three-for-four with a double and a run scored, while junior designated hitter
Tyler Simmons (Charlotte, N.C.) had a double, RBI and run scored for the Bulldogs.
Brantley Rumford went three-for-four with a double and two runs scored to lead the Lenoir-Rhyne offense.
Brandon Walker was two-for-three with an RBI, while
Matthew De La Rosa added an RBI for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, getting an RBI single from De La Rosa, followed by Walker's RBI single. Rumford reached on a one-out double in the second, then scored on a wild pitch to put the Bears on top by three.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the fourth. Krebs led off the frame with a single, then scored on an RBI single from Cherry to make it 3-1.
Wingate scored three times in the sixth to take the lead. Junior catcher
Josh Clark (Clemmons, N.C.) started the inning with a double, then scored on Cherry's RBI double. Simmons followed with a third straight double, plating Cherry to tie it at three. Freshman infielder
Shane Billings (Kernersville, N.C.) put the 'Dogs on top with an RBI triple to right center.
That would be enough for senior right-hander
Olen Little (Charlotte, N.C.), who worked 3 1/3 innings in relief to get the win. He allowed just one hit, striking out three without walking a batter to move to 2-0 on the year.
Ivan Vieitez took the loss, falling to 0-2. He allowed a run on three hits in two innings in relief, striking out two.
Game Two: Lenoir-Rhyne 4, Wingate 1
Walker was one-for-three with two RBI to lead the LRU offense in game two. Vieitez added an RBI and a run scored for the Bears, while Rumford was one-for-two with a run scored.
Billings went two-for-three with an RBI to lead the Wingate attack. Cherry and Simmons also had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.
Wingate got on the board in the second when junior shortstop
Michael Godinez (Cutler Bay, Fla.) drew a two-out walk, then went to third on an error. He scored on an RBI single from Billings.
LRU responded with three in the third to take the lead. Vieitez drove home the first run with an RBI single, while a two-run single from Walker made it 3-1. The Bears added a run in the fifth on a wild pitch, making the final margin 4-1.
Jeremy Coburn got the win, allowing one run on nine hits in seven innings of work, striking out seven. Sophomore left-hander
TJ Rinoski (Yorktown, Va.) took the loss, falling to 0-1. He allowed four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out three.
Wingate returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Belmont Abbey for a 2 p.m. start.Â
