Wingate, N.C.----The 29th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs swept singles action Wednesday afternoon, claiming an 8-1 victory over visiting Limestone College in NCAA Division II women's tennis action. Wingate moves to 11-4 overall, while the Saints fall to 3-3 on the year.

Senior Ali Evers (Roswell, Ga.) teamed with junior Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) for an 8-6 win at number one doubles, while an 8-3 win from senior Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and sophomore Caroline Holland(Spartanburg, S.C.) gave the 'Dogs a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

The Bulldogs won all six singles action to make the final margin 8-1. Freshman Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) got it started with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four singles, while Holland gave the 'Dogs a 4-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number two singles. Evers won the clincher at number one singles, prevailing 6-4, 6-3. Junior Tiffany Williams (Cary, N.C.) prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at number six singles, while a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 win from Winston at number five singles finished the match.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, traveling to Carson-Newman for a 12 p.m. start.
