Olen Little tosses one-hit shutout at Newberry as Bulldogs win 3-0

Newberry, S.C.----Facing the most prolific offense in the South Atlantic Conference, Wingate University senior right-hander Olen Little (Charlotte, N.C.) did not allow a hit until the eighth inning Friday night, leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 victory at Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. Wingate improves to 19-7 overall and 13-5 in the SAC. The Wolves fall to 16-13 overall and 8-8 in the conference.

Junior first baseman Brad Cherry (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) was two-for-four with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Wingate offense. Junior infielder Blake Prince (Winter Park, Fla.) was two-for-four with a run scored, while sophomore outfielder Bill Krebs (West Chester, Pa.) added an RBI for the Bulldogs.

Wingate did most of its damage in the fourth, plating two runs. Junior outfielder Thomas Spitz (West Chester, Pa.) started the frame with a single, then went to second on a one-out single from Prince. Cherry followed with an RBI single to give the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead. Prince then scored when Krebs reached on an error to give Wingate a 2-0 lead.
