#38 Wingate remains perfect in SAC play with 8-1 victory at Brevard

Brevard, N.C.----The 38th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs won all three doubles matches Sunday afternoon, adding five singles victories for an 8-1 win at Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis action. The Bulldogs improve to 13-4 overall and 6-0 in the SAC, while Brevard falls to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Senior Ali Evers (Roswell, Ga.) and junior Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) won 8-4 at number one doubles, while junior Tiffany Williams (Cary, N.C.) teamed with freshman Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) for an 8-6 win at number two doubles. An 8-4 victory at number three doubles from senior Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and sophomore Caroline Holland (Spartanburg, S.C.) put the 'Dogs on top 3-0 heading to singles action.

Holland won 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 at number two singles for Wingate, while Thomas prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at number three singles. Tanik cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number four doubles, while Williams won 6-3, 7-5 at number five singles. Freshman Sierra Parsons (Toronto, Canada) capped the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number six singles.

Wingate is back in action Monday, traveling to Mars Hill for a 1 p.m. start.
