#38 Bulldogs win 7-2 at Mars Hill to notch 21st straight SAC win

Mars Hill, N.C.----The 38th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs swept doubles play Monday afternoon en route to a 7-2 victory at Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis action. The Bulldogs improve to 14-4 overall and 7-0 in the SAC. The Lions fall to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

Senior Ali Evers (Roswell, Ga.) and junior Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) won 9-7 at number one doubles, while junior Tiffany Williams (Cary, N.C.) teamed with freshman Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) for an 8-2 win at number two doubles. An 8-1 victory at number three doubles from senior Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and sophomore Caroline Holland (Spartanburg, S.C.) put the 'Dogs on top 3-0 heading to singles action.

Holland notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at number two singles for Wingate, while Tanik cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles, notching her 15th straight singles win. Williams won 6-3, 6-0 at number five singles, while a 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 victory at number six singles from freshman Sierra Parsons (Toronto, Canada) gave the 'Dogs a 7-2 victory.

The Bulldogs return home this weekend for a pair of key SAC matches. Wingate hosts Lincoln Memorial Friday at 1 p.m., while hosting Anderson Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
