With the victory, Catawba improves to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC. Wingate is 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the SAC. The Wingate Bulldogs visit Ohio Valley (W.Va.) University Monday for a 2 p.m. contest. The Catawba Indians visit Florida Tech Monday at 7 p.m.

Josh Wilson (Bel Air, Md.) opened the scoring for Wingate, taking an assist from junior midfield
Chase Watts (Winston-Salem, N.C.) at the 12:01 mark of the first quarter. Scheich scored his first goal at the 7:27 plateau. Five minutes later, Wingate senior midfield
Bryce Sneed (Apex, N.C.) found the back of the nets on a feed from junior attack
Cory Schumacher (Gainesville, Va.), giving the hosts a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Norman scored the first goal of the second stanza, giving Wingate a 3-1 edge at the 12:55 mark. Ridolfo scored all three of his goals in the second quarter and Scheich added two tallies to put the visitors up 6-3 entering the halftime break. Catawba outshot Wingate 13-11 in the first half.

Scheich scored his fourth and final goal to open the third quarter (11:42), giving the Indians a 7-3 advantage. Vogrig scored back-to-back goals (8:28, 7:00) and Norman added a single spot (2:27) to bring Wingate within a goal at 7-6.

Sellers scored both of his goals in the fourth quarter to give the visitors a cushion. His first goal was assisted by junior attack
Jon Williams (Hillsborough, N.C.) at the 6:09 mark. His second score was assisted by senior midfield
Trevor Sieracki (Austin, Texas) four minutes later. Wingate took nine shots in the fourth frame, but could not find the back of the nets.

Catawba held a slim 33-29 edge in shots. Wingate had 39 ground balls, compared to 30 for Catawba. The Indians won 10 face-offs, while the Bulldogs triumphed on nine face-offs. Catawba senior goalie
