Box Score 2 Brevard, N.C.----The Brevard College Tornados swept a doubleheader against visiting Wingate University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Brevard won the first game 1-0, while rallying for a 6-5 victory in game two to improve to 19-22 overall and 8-8 in the SAC. The Bulldogs fall to 30-16 overall and 12-6 in the conference.
Game One: Brevard 1, Wingate 0Jamie Hrobak tossed a four-hit shutout in game one for the Tornados, holding the Bulldogs to three singles and a double.
Kinsey Parrish was one-for-two with a homer to lead the Brevard offense.
Sophomore catcher
Taylor Laskey (Cherryville, N.C.) went two-for-three with a double to lead the Wingate attack in game one.
The Tornados got all the offense it needed in the second when Parrish led off the frame with a solo homer to left.
Wingate had three singles to load the bases with one out in the fourth, but Hrobak got out of the jam with a groundout and popout. Laskey ripped a one-out double to center in the sixth, but a groundout and flyout ended the threat.
Hrobak moves to 13-8 on the year. She struck out four and walked one on the afternoon. Sophomore right-hander
Stacey Houser (Mooresville, N.C.) took the loss, falling to 19-7. She allowed a run on four hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking two.
Game Two: Brevard 6, Wingate 5Alyssa Miller was three-for-four with a double, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Brevard attack in game two.
Casey Whitaker went two-for-four with two RBI, while Parrish added an RBI for the Tornados.

Alexis Burrell (Chesapeake, Va.) had a double and two RBI to lead the Wingate offense in game two. Laskey added a double and two runs scored, while junior designated player
Kayla Saliga (Asheboro, N.C.) went two-for-four with a double, RBI and run scored. Sophomore outfielder
Jordan Wilson (Gastonia, N.C.) was two-for-three with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs.
Wingate took the lead in the second when Saliga led off the frame with a single, then scored on Wilson's RBI single. Burrell ripped a two-run double to right center in the third to give the 'Dogs a 3-0 lead.
Brevard responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead. The inning started with a hit batsman and error, while Miller's RBI single plated the first run. A wild pitch plated the second run, while Whitaker's sacrifice fly tied the game at three. Parrish added a sacrifice fly to put the Tornados on top.
Laskey led off the fifth with a double, then scored on Saliga's RBI double to tie the game at four.
Brevard took the lead back in the bottom of the inning on Whitaker's RBI single. Miller's RBI single in the sixth gave the Tornados a 6-4 lead.
A single and walk started the top of the seventh. After a flyout and lineout, senior pinch-hitter
Hayley Whitley (Monroe, N.C.) connected on an RBI double to left center, making it 6-5 while putting runners on second and third with two outs. Hrobak got out of the jam, getting a groundout to third to end the game.
Hrobak notched her second win of the day and 14th of the year, allowing two runs on six hits in 4 2/3 relief innings, striking out four. Freshman left-hander
Taylor Bates (Peachland, N.C.) took the loss, falling to 9-9. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits in six innings, striking out three.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, traveling to Catawba for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
