Box ScoreWingate, N.C.----The number 38 Wingate University women's tennis team swept the three doubles matches and never looked back, taking a 7-2 South Atlantic Conference triumph over Anderson (S.C.) University Saturday at the WU Tennis Complex. Three student-athletes won two matches each for the host Bulldogs.
Wingate's 23rd consecutive SAC regular season victory boosts the Bulldogs' record to 16-4 overall and 9-0 in the SAC. The AU Trojans fall to 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the SAC. The WU Bulldogs travel to Tusculum Tuesday for a 12 noon SAC contest. Wingate's Monday trip to Erskine for a non-conference match has been cancelled.

Alexandra Ebner (Hamburg, Germany) at the number four singles flight. Bruning topped Wingate junior
Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) at the number three singles position to put the Trojans on the board.

Caroline Holland (Spartanburg, S.C.) answered with the clinching victory, as she earned a 6-1, 7-5 win over AU junior
Karen Ching (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) at the number two singles spot. Holland joined seniors
Ali Evers (Roswell, Ga.) and
Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) as double winners Saturday.

Avery Owens (Clinton, S.C.) 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 in the battle of the number one players. Winston earned a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Trojan sophomore
Nikkola Wichenko (Oakville, Ontario) at the number five singles flight. Earlier in the afternoon, Winston and Holland made the score 2-0 with their number three doubles win. Evers and Thomas completed the doubles sweep with a victory at the number one position.
