Paulena Dempsey (Jarrettsville, Md.) picked the right time to score her only two goals of the game, tallying the tying score and the game-winner to boost the Bulldogs to a 13-11 NCAA Division II women's lacrosse victory over Young Harris (Ga.) College at the Irwin Belk Track Complex turf field Saturday. Wingate improves to 6-3 overall, while Young Harris falls to 5-2 overall.

Dempsey tied the game 11-11 on an unassisted goal with 4:03 left in the second half. She scored the game-winner on an assist from sophomore attack

Jaclyn Chiesa (Canton, Ga.) broke the 9-9 tie on an unassisted goal with 11:45 left in regulation. YHC freshman attack
Alexia Audet (Woodstock, Ga.) answered with an unassisted goal of her own to tie the contest for the final time at 10-10 with 8:45 to go.

Amanda Kernohan (Oshawa, Ontario) gave the Mountain Lions their first lead since 4-3 (6:51 mark of the first half) when she scored an unassisted goal to make the score 11-10 YHC. Dempsey responded with her two goals to lift the hosts to the victory.
Chisea and junior team captain
Erin Murphy (Mooresville, N.C.) had four points each. Murphy had a team-best four goals, while Chisea had three goals and one assist. Andrews had two goals and one assist, while Holland posted one goal and a team-high two helpers.
For Young Harris, freshman attack
Nicole Kernohan (Whitby, Ontario) had four goals. Audet scored three goals, while Amanda Kernohan had one goal and a team-best two assists.
Both teams took 28 shots Saturday. In addition, the two squads scored two free-position goals each. Wingate picked up 51 ground balls, compared to 33 pick-ups for Young Harris. Turnovers were almost a draw, as Wingate committed 21 miscues to 20 by Young Harris.

Nicole Hinkle (Fallston, Md.) went the distance between the pipes, surrendering 11 goals and posting eight saves. YHC sophomore goalie
Sarah Nudelman (Cumming, Ga.) also played 60 minutes with nine saves and 13 goals allowed.
Wingate returns to South Atlantic Conference play Wednesday, visiting Catawba College for a 3:30 p.m. contest. Young Harris faces Point University Wednesday in Cumming, Ga. First draw control is slated for 7:30 p.m.
