Anderson, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs went 2-1 in doubles play and 5-1 in singles play Wednesday afternoon en route to a 7-2 victory at Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. Wingate improves to 10-5 overall and 8-1 in the SAC, while Anderson falls to 11-3 overall and 8-2 in the conference.
Senior
Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) and junior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) got things started with an 8-5 win at number one doubles. Sophomores
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) and
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) added an 8-6 win at number three doubles to give Wingate a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.
Hall picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at number two singles, while freshman
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) added a 6-4, 6-4 win at number three singles. Sophomore
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) prevailed 6-2, 6-4 at number four singles, while Pezzoli won 6-4, 6-0 at number five singles. Freshman
Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at number six singles for the Bulldogs.
Wingate is back in action Monday, traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne for a 12 p.m. start.
