Colleen Zickert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) scored four minutes into the second overtime Tuesday night, giving the fifth-seeded Bulldogs a thrilling 1-0 victory at fourth-seeded Queens University in the quarterfinals of the 2016 South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament. Wingate improves to 11-5-1 overall, while the Royals fall to 10-7 on the year.
The Bulldogs are onto the SAC Tournament semifinals for the seventh consecutive year. Wingate has appeared in each of the last SAC Tournament championship matches. The Bulldogs will face the winner of Tuesday night's Lenoir-Rhyne vs. Newberry contest Friday at 11 a.m.
Wingate held a 10-5 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes against Queens, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore forward
Kimmi Moore (Hubert, N.C.) registered three shots on goal in the opening half, while Zickert added two more shots on target.
The second half saw Queens hold an 8-3 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. Wingate junior goalkeeper
Alexis Jones (Midway Park, N.C.) secured a save with 90 seconds left in regulation, while also notching a save two minutes into the first overtime. The Bulldogs took five shots in the final six shots of the first overtime, with a pair of shots on goal.

Morgan Gray (Broomfield, Colo.) sent a cross into the box, where Zickert collected it and netted her third goal of the season and first game-winner to send the 'Dogs to the SAC semifinals.
The Bulldogs out-shot the Royals 20-16 on the night, with a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. Moore led the way with six shots, including three shots on goal, while Zickert registered five shots on the night, three of which were on target.
Jones collected seven saves for the Bulldogs, notching her 11th shutout of the season.
Rachel Quest had nine saves for Queens.
The Bulldogs are back in action Friday, facing the Newberry vs. Lenoir-Rhyne winner in the SAC Tournament semifinals at 11 a.m. at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. The winner of that contest will advance to Sunday's championship match at 1 p.m. in Rock Hill.
