Men's Box Score | Women's Box ScoreBrevard, N.C.----The 35th-ranked Wingate University women's tennis team and 48th-ranked men's team both picked up 9-0 wins at Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference tennis action Friday afternoon. The Wingate women move to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Wingate men are 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
The Wingate women rolled through doubles play, with the number one team of sophomores
Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Maria Garcia (San Carlos, Venezuela) picking up an 8-0 win at number one doubles. Freshmen
Claudia De Andreis (Milan, Italy) and
Sydney Homan (Huntsville, Ala.) won 8-0 at two doubles, while senior
Caroline Holland (Spartanburg, S.C.) and junior
Sierra Parsons (Toronto, Ontario) also won 8-0 at three doubles.
De Andreis won 6-1, 6-3 at one singles. Womeodu picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at number two singles, while Holland, Homan and
Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) won by 6-0, 6-0 scores at three, four and five singles, respectively. Garcia cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number six singles.
The Wingate men also rolled through doubles play Friday. Senior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) and junior
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) won 8-3 at number one doubles. Freshman
Duncan Addison (Halifax, Canada) teamed with senior
Westin Bennett (Calgary, Alberta) for an 8-2 at number two doubles, while juniors
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) and
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) won by forfeit at three doubles.
Hall won 9-8 at one singles, while Kudrick added an 8-6 victory at number two singles. Pezzoli and
Josh Dutoit (Charlotte, N.C.) picked up 8-1 wins at three and four singles. Sophomore
Nicholas Oliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at five singles, while Schofer won by forfeit at number six singles.
Both Wingate teams are back in action Saturday, traveling to Mars Hill for a 1 p.m. start.
