Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University head men's lacrosse coach
Tim Boyle reveals the addition of four new student-athletes (class of 2016) who will study and play lacrosse for the Bulldogs. The four new Bulldog student-athletes hail from Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland and North Carolina.
Zach Adams (Parker, Colo.) is a midfielder, while
Joe Cooper (Raleigh, N.C.) and
Garrett Guite (Berlin, Conn.) spent time at both midfield and attack during their high school careers.
Josh Ferentinos (Gaithersburg, Md.) is an attack. A biographical sketch on each new Wingate Lacrosse student-athlete follows…

Zach Adams, M
Parker, Colo. (Chaparral)
Zach Adams was a Brine All-American for head coach
Kevin Graefe at Chaparral. As a senior, Adams posted 34 points and collected 56 ground balls. He earned four varsity letters for the Wolverines, gaining multiple all-conference awards. Adams was All-State academic honorable mention as a senior.
Adams also played one year on the Chaparral football team, seeing time as a defensive back for head coach
John Vogt. Zach is the son of
Tom and
Hender Adams.
Joe Cooper, M/A
Raleigh, N.C. (Millbrook)
Joe Cooper earned four varsity letters for head coach
Adam Kraciuk at Millbrook High School. As a senior captain, Cooper helped the Wildcats compile a 12-7 overall record. Millbrook earned its fourth consecutive trip to the N.C. 4A state play-offs. A four-year academic all-conference choice, Cooper received the team's sportsmanship award.
A three-year lacrosse starter, Cooper also lettered two seasons for the Millbrook football team. The Wildcats made the 4A state play-offs both years. Joe is the son of
Daryl Cooper and
Andrea Cooper.
Josh Ferentinos, A
Gaithersburg, Md. (Magruder)
Josh Ferentinos was a two-year captain and a four-year letterman for the Magruder Colonels. As a senior, Ferentinos and his teammates helped the MHS Colonels post a 12-5 overall record and earn a berth in the Maryland 4A/3A state play-offs.
In addition to his lacrosse exploits, Ferentinos earned two letters in wrestling. He participated in cross country as well. Josh is the son of
Gregory Ferentinos and
Gianna R. Ferentinos. His mom played volleyball at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. Josh has four siblings (three brothers and one sister).
Garrett Guite, M/A
Berlin, Conn. (Berlin)
Garrett Guite was an all-conference choice for head coach
Scott Rossi and the Berlin Redcoats. A team captain, Guite was also named to the academic all-conference lacrosse team. The BHS Redcoats compiled a 9-7 overall record his senior year.
Guite was also a member of the Berlin football team. Academically, Guite received the President's Education Award for his diligent work. Garrett is the son of
Jonathan and
Mary Sue Guite. He has one brother (
Ian).
In December, Wingate signed 10 student-athletes. New Wingate attack men include
Mike Moore (Ellicott City, Md.),
Dom Piazza (Huntingtown, Md.) and
Gary Pierpont (Huntingtown, Md.). New Bulldog midfielders include
Sean Duffy (Queensbury, N.Y.) and
Reid Merlo (Reisterstown, Md.).
New Wingate goalkeepers include
Ryan Ahrens (Austin, Texas) and
James Marino (Waxhaw, N.C.). In the defense/long-stick midfielder positions, Wingate adds
Nicholas Gurreri IV (Annandale, N.J.),
David Parker (Raleigh, N.C.) and
Tyler Torrente (Jacksonville, Fla.).
