Augusta, Ga.----The 45th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs picked up their fourth straight victory Wednesday afternoon, rolling to an 8-1 victory at Augusta University in NCAA Division II women's tennis action. Wingate improves to 7-1 on the season, while the Jaguars fall to 4-7 overall.
Wingate swept through doubles play, getting an 8-2 win at number one doubles from juniors
Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Maria Garcia (San Carlos, Venezuela) and an 8-1 victory at three doubles from senior
Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) and sophomore
Claudia De Andreis (Milan, Italy). Senior
Andrea Ternera (Bogota, Colombia) teamed with sophomore
Sydney Homan (Huntsville, Ala.) for a 9-8 victory at two doubles to give the 'Dogs a 3-0 lead heading to singles play.
De Andreis picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 win at number one singles, while Ternera won 6-4, 6-1 at two singles. Tanik prevailed 7-5, 6-2 at number four singles, while Homan won 6-3, 6-2 at number five singles. Freshman

Wingate is back in action next Friday, returning to league play to host Carson-Newman at 2 p.m.
