#33 Wingate pushes winning streak to seven with 7-2 victory over Saints

Wingate, N.C.----The 33rd-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs swept through doubles play Tuesday afternoon en route to a 7-2 victory over visiting Limestone College in NCAA Division II women's tennis action. The Bulldogs win their seven straight, improving to 16-2 overall. Limestone falls to 10-7 on the season.

Juniors Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) and Maria Garcia (San Carlos, Venezuela) teamed for an 8-4 victory at number one doubles. Senior Andrea Ternera (Bogota, Colombia) and sophomore Sydney Homan (Huntsville, Ala.) prevailed 8-4 at two doubles, while senior Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) teamed with sophomore Claudia De Andreis (Milan, Italy) for an 8-0 victory at three doubles.

Ternera rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at two singles, while freshman Elena Pellegrini (Livorno, Italy) prevailed 6-4, 7-5 at three singles. Tanik cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five singles, while Homan won by the same score at six singles for the Bulldogs.

Wingate is back in action Wednesday, facing No. 31 Georgia College at 11 a.m.
