#20 Bulldogs stay perfect against Division II opponents with 6-3 win at Georgia College

Box Score Milledgeville, Ga.----The 20th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs picked up another big region victory Sunday afternoon, prevailing 6-3 at Georgia College in NCAA Division II women's tennis action. Wingate remains perfect against NCAA Division II opponents this season, moving to 8-2 overall and 8-0 against Division II opposition. Wingate is also 3-0 against Peach Belt opponents this year. Georgia College, the fifth-ranked team in the region, falls to 4-2 overall.

The Bulldogs went 2-1 in doubles play, starting with an 8-4 victory at two doubles from juniors Claudia De Andreis (Milan, Italy) and Sydney Homan (Huntsville, Ala.). Senior Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) teamed with freshman Chyi Lee (Wenshan District Taipei, Taiwan) for an 8-6 victory at three doubles to put Wingate on top 2-1 heading to singles play.

Sophomore Michela Verpelli (Milan, Italy) won 6-3, 6-4 at number one singles, while De Andreis prevailed 6-4, 6-2 at two singles. Womeodu's second victory of the day came at number four singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 while Homan notched her second win of the afternoon with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at six singles.

The Bulldogs are back in action Monday, traveling to Columbus State to take on the third-ranked Cougars at 1 p.m.
