Wingate falls 5-1 at UNC Pembroke Wednesday

Box Score Pembroke, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored once in the eighth inning, but UNC Pembroke's early scoring was too much to overcome as the Braves notched a 5-1 victory in NCAA Division II baseball action. The Braves improve to 7-7 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 11-5 on the season.

- UNCP out-hit Wingate 11-5 on the day
- The Braves had all four extra-base hits
- WU pitchers struck out four and walked one on the afternoon
- Pembroke pitchers struck out seven and walked six
- The 'Dogs left 15 on base while the Braves left five

Ricky Clark drove in a run
- Logan McNeely was one-for-one
Zach Little and McCann Mellett each had a hit

SECOND INNING
 
- A two out double put Jarratt Mobley on for the Braves
- Zach Ghelfi's RBI single to left gave UNCP a 1-0 lead
Kevon Perkins added a two-run single up the middle to put Pembroke on top 3-0
 
SIXTH INNING
 
- Mobley's solo shot to left center put UNCP on top 4-0
- Another solo from Perkins made it 5-0
 
EIGHTH INNING

- A fielding error, a walk and a hit batsman loaded the bases for the Bulldogs
- Reece Daniel scored on Clark's RBI groundout

WRAPUP

Hank Simpson got the win with three innings of work and a strikeout
Brandon Winstead struck out four in two innings of work
David Nash took the loss, allowing three runs while walking one and striking out two
