Only four teams remain in the NCAA Division II World Series. Angelo State and Central are the lone two undefeated teams remaining in the tournament, while Wingate and Tampa are the two one-loss teams left. The Bulldogs have staved off elimination each of the last two days.
Brody McCullough went eight innings Tuesday to lead Wingate to a 3-2 victory over #14 Southern New Hampshire, as the 'Dogs eliminated the Penmen.
David Nash tossed a complete game Wednesday as Wingate eliminated #4 Seton Hill with a 5-1 victory. Nash and McCullough are the only two pitchers in this year's World Series to go at least eight innings.
A victory Thursday for the Bulldogs would lead to another contest between Wingate and Angelo State on Friday. The national championship game will take place Saturday. The Bulldogs and Rams met in the opener Sunday, with Angelo State prevailing 6-2. The Rams followed by defeating Seton Hill on Tuesday to move to 2-0 on the week.
