Eighth annual UNG Fall Invitational canceled due to inclement weather

Dahlonega, Ga.----Due to wet course conditions and projected inclement weather, the eighth annual UNG Fall Invitational has been canceled. The event would have been the Wingate University men's golf team's 2021-22 season opener.

A field that included seven top 25 teams got warmed up and attempted to start play this morning, but consistent rains made the course unplayable. As a result, Monday's rounds were washed out. With rain forecasted throughout the night and into Tuesday morning, the course is projected to still be unplayable for what would have been the final day of the tournament.

Wingate will try again next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27-28, when the South Atlantic Conference-member Bulldogs return to Georgia for the Cougar Invitational. Columbus State University is hosting the event at the Green Island Country Club in Columbus.
