Winston-Salem, N.C.----Wingate University junior
Danielle Crawford and sophomore
Ennessey Sorrells won the women's shot put and triple jump, respectively, as both Bulldog teams finished third in South Atlantic Conference indoor championship meet Sunday at the JDL Fast Track.
Â
Crawford's shot put PR of 14.00 is a new meet (and school) record, breaking the previous SAC indoor meet mark of 13.54 meters set by
Gabby Schultz (Queens) in 2019. Sorrells also posted a PR with her gold-medal triple jump of 11.48 meters. Both Crawford and Sorrells win their first SAC indoor championship events with Sunday's victories.

Â
Today, I felt the pressure as we walked into the JDL facility. We started the morning with the men's shot put.
Brayden Kinney, a freshman, did an amazing job at his first conference meet.
Tom Kalliske did an amazing job setting up the day for success! We had a little break in between the men's and women's flights. My teammates and coaches kept hyping me up and wishing me luck.
Â
The first flight came around and Summer Bartlett was up…she had a great day, no PR, but still a great performance. Then it was go time!
Lexie (May),
Victoria (McEachern),
Carly (Platt), then me in the flight. We went through the first rounds and I had set myself up with room to "just have fun" as Coach
Billy (Edwards) would say. We coasted through the flight just relaxing and every single one of my teammates PRed and I could not be any prouder.
Â
My last throw I knew I wanted to leave it all out there and Coach Billy wanted me to get a clap going, so I walked into the cage and hollered to Lexie, 'Turn me up, Lex!' She started the clap for me and from inside the ring it sounded like the entire facility was clapping. I released the ball and at first it didn't set in, then I realized it was 14 meters and I was so freaking proud. I started clapping and cheering and so did all my teammates.
Â
There were countless times that people told me 'good job' or 'wow, that's amazing.' I can't take all the credit…Coach Billy spends an uncountable number of hours coaching me and researching things. My teammates had my back all day and helped me stay calm cool and collected. No doubt I have the best team and coaching staff there is! I'm very proud of my team and cannot wait to see what outdoor brings! Go Dogs!Â

Â
My mindset for today was just to do the best I can and be confident. My goal was to have fun and get a PR. I was really nervous, because I wasn't jumping the marks I wanted early in the season, but I continued to have faith in myself. I want to thank my coaches for believing in me and also my teammates for cheering for me.Â
