Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore infielder
Michael Dansky has been named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference baseball Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday morning. He earns league Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.
Dansky had a huge week for #2 Wingate, leading the defending national champions to a 3-0 start to the season with a sweep over Coker. Dansky hit .800 in the three-game series, going eight-for-10 with two homers, three doubles, seven RBI and eight runs scored. He also had a stolen base on the week, posting an .857 on-base percentage and 1.700 slugging percentage.
Dansky started his week by going three-for-three with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored in the season opener. He was four-for-four with a double, homer, two RBI and four runs scored in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. He capped his week with a homer in the finale.
A preseason first team All-SAC selection, Dansky leads the SAC in average, runs scored, slugging percentage and on-base percentage, ranking second in hits, doubles, homers, RBI and total bases.
Wingate is back in action this week with four more home games. The Bulldogs host #13 Mount Olive Wednesday at 3 p.m. The 'Dogs open a three-game series against Charleston Friday at 4 p.m.
